ParticipantOk, some thoughts on the team more than this game, which is obviously the most important of their three meetings this season. Something about me hates the fact that they tried to buy a roster of superstars, their rah-rah coach and their low class attempts at keeping Niner fans out of their stadium. Fuck them.
Regarding the team: First off, Trey Lance. Did anyone besides me think that Josh Allen reminded us of the way he plays, runs and throws? Trey is like an undeveloped Josh Allen in my opinion. Secondly, there are rumblings about that Tom Brady might still want to come to San Francisco for a season or two before he finally hangs it up (maybe Rodgers too?). Think of it, Lance learns from the GOAT or MVP before he finally takes over. What say ye?

ParticipantBrady or Rodgers coming here with Trey in the background and learning. I’d say we could build a dynasty in that scenario. People have said we don’t have the draft capital to trade for Rodgers but if I’m not mistaken he has a no trade clause and he counts $46 mill against the cap next year. I don’t think the pack holds him hostage again this offseason and they might just end up releasing him. They would have about $20 mill in dead money doing that but still save $26 mill overall.
I think the packers are foolish to think they’d get a ton in return for him and have him also agree to be traded to that team that is now devoid all of their draft picks and probably players on top of that. He has a lot more leverage now than he did last year.

ParticipantAnd yeah I was hoping we’d get the rams. I didn’t want any part of Brady to be honest. We are inside the rams heads too and as we saw and have seen very capable of folding under pressure.

ParticipantWe know the Rams. We know they’re beatable. We just have to do it. Hopefully we can duct tape our injured guys together enough to do the job.

ParticipantI’m with you Doc.
The Rams are a carpet bagger team. They lost fans when they went to Anaheim and lost what was left when they went to St. Louis. Their only fans left are young and or really die hard old men. It’s going to take generations and lots of wins to build up the base again. What was left of NFL fans switched to either Raiders, the Niners, The Cowboys (all of which have always had a strong fan base in SoCal) and the Cards.
Since our secondary stepped up and healed up, Jimmy has been the weak link. Even if they go all the way I will always think it could have been a lot easier had they just started Trey. I think Klynch got too cute thinking Jimmy was worth a 1st and they got stuck with him and decided he was too expensive to ride the pine. The locker room also got the 2019 vides and wanted him to be the man again. I would wager that most of those guys are over it at this point and if Jimmy goes down…..they’ll probably quietly be happy. Jimmy hasn’t done fuck all for Kittle or Juice’s numbers.
I’d rather have Brady than Rogers…..but I don’t see Kyle seriously making a move for either. Both are much too Alpha for him. Hell Deebo is too Alpha for him. The players respect him as a football nerd…..that’s it. Other than that he’s just a dude. Both would cuck Kyle within a few months.
I’m excited and scared….not sure how much more my heart can take.

ParticipantRB I think after seeing how well Brady has played and leaving the decision up to Kyle before, if the opportunity is there for Brady or Rodgers to come here I think the Yorks will step in and tell him to do it. I don’t think he will have a choice. It will boost revenues and we all know the Yorks are about the green. When the team was struggling John showed up at 4949 unannounced and I don’t think it’s any coincidence the team started playing well after that visit. I think the York family might start to be a bit more hands on.
Wish this organization had an alpha. It’s a bunch of passive males. Probably because Jed is a big pussy himself. He had Harbs and well we saw how that turned out.

ParticipantIt’s tough to beat a team three times in one season. Unless Jimmy turns into a legit NFL QB by Sunday m, I fail to see how the 49ers get the hat trick.

ParticipantI remember back in 99 the titans were underdogs against the Jags. Nobody said they could beat the jags 3 times.

ParticipantI thought that last time (that it would be tough to beat them yet again) when it was six straight wins against them and somehow the 49ers still pulled it off. The key is to focus on the game as one game and not think about the past games, let the Rams do that, which puts us in their head.
We can beat them but you are right MNie, since they bought as many off-the-shelf superstar players as they possibly could, it will be a tough assignment. I know for certain if by chance the 49ers lose, I will support whomever plays against the Rams in the Super Bowl (and I greatly dislike KC for obvious reasons), Like I said before FUCK ‘EM (the Rams). At least KC built their team in a more legitimate and honest way. They even gave McKinnon a chance (lol)!
No one has brought up my observation that Lance reminds me of an undeveloped Josh Allen. Anyone feeling it?

ParticipantThe Rams may have more talent, but even that might be debatable. What we have over the Rams though are a bunch of high motor guys at every position on the field willing to do everything, run, catch, block, play physical, etc. The rams don’t have a team like that. They have a bunch of guys like OBJ that don’t want to get their hands dirty.
And yeah I see Josh Allen in Lance. When Allen came out he had worse accuracy than Lance does. With the same coaching and work ethic he can become Allen, I am convinced of that.

ParticipantThe LA Times reported about 65% of the fans in attendance will be Niner fans.

ParticipantLA is a super fickle town when it comes to sports and especially the NFL, in great part because it’s such an artificial place without organic identity, unlike (for example) Pittsburgh or Green Bay, where life figuratively revolves around their city and their teams. Sure, the LA TV market looks huge on paper, but the real numbers just don’t hold up. LA sports fans don’t give a shit about you unless you’re winning, and sometimes not even then. It’s telling how the Dodgers, Lakers and Kings have lasted while three different NFL teams have been in and out of there repeatedly. LA is simply not a football town, and one has to wonder when the NFL will wake up and stop throwing good money after bad.

ParticipantReally worried about Williams and his status. If he has a high ankle sprain I can’t see how he could play.
